Krewe of Janus Ball

This weekend was the Krewe of Janus Ball back home in New Orleans, and it was a blast, as usual. This was my first year actually masking, which was weird, since the previous 9 times I was just a guest! This year, I'm becoming a Kreme member, its official! Anyway, here's the group picture, and I've got all the rest of the pictures on my imagestation account - if you don't have an imagestation account, you can login using my guest account:

Well, I decided to attempt something a little creative. My mom doubted it could be done, but I proved her wrong! I baked a Purple, Green, and Gold Mardi Gras cake...ok, so it wasn't perfect, but it wasn't bad, and it tasted good. So the gauntlet has been thrown - my mom's making a cake for the Janus ball on Saturday for Chad's Birthday (happy birthday, btw!), so lets see what she can come up with. Posted by Hello

Birthday Cheer

My birthday was this past Saturday and I had a pretty good day. Got to finish installing my new speakers in the cop car, change the oil, and most importantly - slept in and worked for maybe a sum total of an hour from home - it was actually like a real weekend day! I had a nice dinner with some friends at Buca di Beppo, then hung out and had some drinks at Chad and Mel's house. Thanks ya'll!

And now for some more exciting news - I kinda stumbled into this but its made for a very nice birthday present to myself. As of this afternoon, I'm the proud owner of a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle.

Here are some pics I took once I got it home:

Happy All Kings Day....

Well, everyone else has wished Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, so I figured I'd be the first to wish everyone a Happy All Kings Day! Which is the start of a rather short Mardi Gras season this year. Man, I could go for a McKenzie's King Cake right about now...

Anyway, work is still crazy, though it was quite nice to have the week off after Christmas. Got to spend some quality time with my family and friends. Managed to find out the hard way that Blackjack is a game of luck when I visited Fred, who was playing in the Orchestra for Beauty and the Beast at the Grand Casino in Biloxi. And on New Years Eve found out that Wild Turkey 101 can really sneak up on you...that extra 21 proof is dangerous...but still oh so good.

I had some of the most emotional football watching for me the past weekend too - I've never been much into football, but for some reason this year I got a little more into it - maybe it was the watching the Saints games at Shoal Creek Saloon, or the fact that the school I really wanted to go to (Auburn) was kicking some ass, or maybe it was just playing Madden on the Gamecube that did it...ok, that was alot of maybes, so maybe it was a combination of all of the above. Anyway, only real dissapointment was LSU - the last minute of that game was nuts.

So its time to start looking forward to the Janus ball! After missing it last year for a buddy's wedding, I'm ready to make up for it this year! It looks like there's going to have a bunch of friends coming, so it should be a blast!

Oh, and anybody have suggestions for things to see in Italy? I'm planning my trip there in April - going to visit Jenn and Wayne, who are living in Rome - gonna be there for 3 weeks! My first real vacation since I started IBM 4 years ago...

And one last thing... I was crowned, for the second time in 5 years, the King of Super Smash Brothers at this year's Annual Lakeview Invitational... ask if you really want to know ;)
